Articleshow-to-make-it-big-as-a-personal-trainer-in-less-time

What do you want to achieve as a personal trainer? If your answer is to “make it big”, whatever that might mean for you, here are a few tips to help you achieve your goal in less time.

Develop Your Expertise as a Personal Trainer

There are experts in every field and personal training is no different. Expert personal trainers have the skills and knowledge to work with a variety of clients and to combine workouts with nutrition know-how to deliver results. To become an expert yourself, your first step is to achieve your personal trainer qualification.

Once you have this, you can market yourself as a qualified personal trainer. Your qualification shows people that you have the skills and knowledge to back up your claims; that you’re serious about health and fitness; that you stand by your commitments; and that you can help them reach their fitness goals.

Share Your Success Stories

Having obtained your personal trainer qualification and the credibility that comes with it, you’re now in the fast lane to achieving your goal of making it big. One of the quickest ways to then supercharge your business is to publish client testimonials on your social media and website.

Sharing your client success stories with the world is a great way to show potential clients that you and your training methods really do deliver results. Potential clients read these success stories and see themselves in your clients. It gives them the motivational viewpoint, “if they can do it, so can I”.

Include progress pictures – like before and after shots – with your client testimonials. Whether it’s weight loss, muscle gain, or smashing their personal best for a half marathon, share the success stories so that potential clients can see that you’re the person who can help them achieve their goals too. Keep in mind the best testimonials often include the emotional and wellbeing improvements they’ve experienced, as well as the physical.

Remember, always get the client’s consent before sharing any personal information or progress pictures. This isn’t just an ethical requirement, it’s a legal requirement.

Establish Great Relationships

Whilst the skills and knowledge you gained obtaining your qualification are key components to making it big as a personal trainer, establishing a good relationship with your clients is key too. People don’t have a relationship with your knowledge, they have a relationship with you.

Repeat business is important for most businesses, including yours. The most successful PTs are the the ones people want to see again and again. Clients want to enjoy their training, enjoy their time with you and know that you have their best interests at heart. This kind of relatability comes from being yourself, having your own style and allowing your personality to come through in your coaching approach.

Your coaching approach is also a great way to differentiate yourself and get to the top. Do you have a different way of working out that’s more appealing to your clients; a unique routine, or a form of exercise that isn’t mainstream? When you showcase your attributes and build great relationships, you’ll grow your reputation in the fitness world.

Offer Variety

Successful personal trainers love the variety that personal training offers them. Different clients with different personalities and different needs means no two days need be the same. Offering both in-person and online personal training will help you increase your client base and ensure you can meet the needs of your clients, no matter where they are in the world or what is happening in their life. Whether it’s a business trip or sick child at home, online personal training is a great way to support your clients regardless of what life throws at them. It’s also a great way to introduce the many benefits of exercise to people who are reluctant to go to a fitness facility.

Offering both types of training increases your income because you’re drawing revenue from two different sources and, as shown by the recent pandemic, having a source of income that isn’t reliant on a specific location isn’t just smart, it’s another way to achieve great success.

If you don’t have your qualification, we have a range of personal trainer courses that will give you the qualification you need to become a top personal trainer and establish yourself as an expert in the fitness industry.
